Borussia Dortmund team bus hit by blasts

Sport should be a field of social harmony, where Muslims, Christians or otherwise can put aside their political/ ideological differences, and jointly share in humanity’s love for recreational activity.

But despite this, and that soccer has tremendous traction in parts of the Islamic world, these factors have not deterred particular purveyors of Islamic extremism, after the Borussia Dortmund club team bus was recently hit by bomb blasts.

Evidently for Islamic terrorists, there is no act too cowardly, no event too sacred, as so long as the flow of infidel blood continues relentlessly, Allah remains a happy, satisfied figure.

The Australian, by Jaquelin Magnay, April 12, 2017:

German investigators are looking into the possibility that explosions targeting a bus carrying players of soccer club Borussia Dortmund might have been carried out by Islamist militants.

The Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper reports that a letter left near the scene of the attack claimed it was in retaliation for German military reconnaissance missions against Islamic State in Syria.

The newspaper also says the letter might be a deliberate attempt by the perpetrators to mislead investigators.

A series of explosions has hit team bus of high-profile German football team, Borussia Dortmund, injuring one of the players just before the team was due to play one of the big Champions League quarter-final first-leg ties.

Football officials quickly cancelled the game, which was due to take place in Dortmund, western Germany, and was against Monaco, and have tentatively rescheduled it for tomorrow.

A German prosecutor says a letter was found near the team bus where explosives went off; but the details have been withheld. Police also say the blasts were ‘targeted attack against’ Dortmund.

Borussia defender Marc Bartra was slightly hurt with hand and arm injuries causing by shattered glass and was taken to hospital. Pictures of the bus show two large windows on the right hand side at the rear were shattered and two areas of scorch marks on the bitumen.

Police said in a statement they were working on the assumption that the blasts were caused by “serious explosive devices,” which may have been hidden in a hedge near a car park.

Goalkeeper Roman Burki said:” After the bang, we all ducked in the bus and those who could pushed to the ground. We did not know if more would happen. The police were fast on the spot, and secured the area. We are all shocked, nobody thought of playing a football match in the minutes afterwards”….
